Inspiration for the Festival
“ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying whom shall I send?
And who will go for us?” and I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)
Being a Christian means so much more than just attending a Church Service on a Sunday!
There are huge inequalities within our affluent, materialistic society and very much bigger differences when compared to the half of the world’s population (4 billions) still having to live on £1 per day or less.
The poor of the world cry out saying “We too need clean water, basic sanitation, regular income, better nutrition, good health, electricity, a nicer home, education for our children…………………….”
When we also consider the future impact on especially the poor and needy of climate change, the continuing economic turmoil plus the unsustainable rate at which we are exploiting the world’s finite resources, there is clearly great need and no shortage of opportunities for more Christians to become involved with others in tackling some of these issues whether in Worthing or further afield.
We should all want to make a difference and many Chrstians across Worthing are already doing just that. Those who have already answered the call and said ‘Here am I, send me' are people who have found where their true passion lies and who are committed to a vision of mission and service in their lives, to the Glory of God and the extension of His Kingdom here on earth.
The Worthing Christian Network of mission and charity leaders in staging this Festival is seeking to encourage all Christians in Worthing to look again at Jesus’ command to go into all the world, be good news to the poor and needy and share the Gospel.
The Worthing Mission Community Festival will be highlighting the work being done by people here in Worthing and much further afield, some in extremely demanding circumstances.
We want to challenge the young and the not so young to consider leaving their personal ‘comfort zone’, to step out and make a difference in the lives of others.
There are many who would love to share their vision. And who want to encourage others to become involved with them to share the joys, challenges and sometimes the sorrows of being the ‘hands and feet’ of Jesus Christ in our world.
What a commitment, what a fulfilled life and what a future lies ahead for all who strive to serve Him
by being both ‘salt and light’ in a dark world as we seek to share the Good News of the Gospel.
